Title: airtronics 94102 wiring question
Post by: Spiffyguy on April 24, 2008, 03:26:25 PM
I have finished soldering my board for the $50 robot and I am ready to zero my servos and try it out.  I have Airtronics 94102.  I modified then and i feel they should work for continuous so I was getting ready to wire it all up and noticed the wire colors on the servos don't seem to be standard.  there is two black and one red.  Near as I can figure this won't work for the pin config i have on the board.  On the connector pin 1 and 2 are black and pin 3 is red.  so which is the control line?  Unless that red is control and the middle is power I will need to rewire then I reckon.  Are my thoughts correct or am I just plain crazy?

I should have just bought a futaba than use what I had lol.

Thanks
Scott

The datasheet for the servos you have should tell you which pins are for what.  Most of the wire colors vary from one company to another (one of the things I hate about the RC industry is nothing is even close to standard), with some even varying the pin order on the connector.  Although I have never seen a servo with two black and one red wire, I would assume there is a positive, negative and signal wire.  You just need to figure out which is which, and when you do you can pop the pins out of the connector(gently pry up the plastic tab holding each pin in place and slide it out) and put them in the order you need.

i did look around for a datasheet but did not have much luck.  The servos are very old, at least 15 years.  The manual has long been lost.  I will try to give the manufacturer a call today and see if they can tell me.

Do you still have the reciever that you used with the servos? if so you could plug it in and test the pins with a multimeter to see which ones are the power lines.

unfortunately I don't have it anymore.  I rummaged through a box of parts lol to find these servos.  No worries though.  I am sure the manufacturer can help me once they open up.
