Stumbled across this

I never knew you could actually move so nicely with so little DOF

I think there is one DOF per leg!

at first I was like, 'oh, just another hexapod' . . . then I noticed it was with 1 DOF legs, nice! so simple!

It's not really a hexapod, well it has six legs, but only four are really legs... Depends on how you look at it  ;)

this robot only uses 4 actuators! that's great...
I think it's also possible with only three actuators, the middle legs can move seperatly now, maybe attach them to eachother so they are one upsidedown U shaped thingy.
And let one servo move that.
position 1: keep both sides up (center the servo)
position 2:left side down
position 3:right side down

I dont know but it seems amazing, looks like a lot of effort went into making it move in such a life like way, you could almost believe that it was a real spider and just from that short clip aswell..

Well done whoever made it

Ive just had a look, and it seems that it is a lynx-motion kit.

Frederick Andersson, this is the benchmark for your hexapod!!! :D ::)
