ToolBot Phase 1
« on: October 11, 2010, 11:10:30 PM »
Below is a schematic for the Sabertooth, Spektrum, and power source that I am planning to use for my robot.  I am posting this image because I am still learning and would like your opinion on changes that you would make and places that I have messed up.  Any help is appreciated.

What's the point of the $120 power distribution board, other then some fuses? It doesn't even look like you are using the current sense output.

I will eventually use the current output, and possibly connect an additional battery.

You can use something like this (it's what i use on my robots)

http://www.robotshop.com/attopilot-voltage-and-current-sense-breakout-2.html

to sense current and voltage, and it's only $20. Good for up to 50V and 90 Amps.

That, plus making your own wiring harness with fuses and power switch, and you could save $100 for something else. Just something to consider.

Does anyone have any issues with the way I have connected the battery and battery charger.  I want to make sure that what I am doing is safe.  Also, here is an image of the battery, motor, and chassis.  Let me know what you think and what I could improve.

Safe practice would be to have a fuse in-between the battery and charger.
