Title: remote control robot tutorial video
Post by: Admin on October 11, 2008, 01:14:15 AM
For the beginners out there, here is a tutorial on how to make a simple remote control robot:

(and for the clever people, you'll notice its the exact same chassis as from my $50 Robot, using the older wheels I made for my ERP)

Very nice and easy to understand.  :)  Now if only this video existed when I was learning to fly RC planes (it showed the basics of remotes and receivers in 8 minutes for what took me a month's worth of flying to learn).

Although, I always thought of robots as completely (or partly) autonomous systems.  The "robot" in the video seemed more like a RC car than a robot to me.  Of course, it is a simple, first-time project for beginners: if/when they expand it and make it do more complex things, it could be considered more "robotic".

this video was great and got me interested in breaking out some of my old RC cars and taking them apart =P though i did have a question after watching it what about using DC motors instead of servos but it was already answered http://www.societyofrobots.com/robotforum/index.php?topic=5627.0 (http://www.societyofrobots.com/robotforum/index.php?topic=5627.0)

I have several airplane radios/receivers that use the 72Mhz band. Since all my robics are ground based, I really should be using a 75MHz band. Does anyone know if I can just swap the crystals out for ones in the 75 range, or are there other electronics in the radios that make them specific to a given range?

TyLEr71, it depends entirely on the remote. Just look up the manual for the remote you want to use, and it'll explain it all.

What kind of question is that? you don't even say what you want to make... ;)

There aren't any with 10 connections that I know of for sale. You'd be hard pressed to find more than 7.

You'd have to use a PC and UART/bluetooth to wirelessly send commands to a microcontroller.
