A good way to start would be with this site's first robot tutorial (http://societyofrobots.com/robot_tutorial.shtml (http://societyofrobots.com/robot_tutorial.shtml)) and $50 robot (http://societyofrobots.com/step_by_step_robot.shtml (http://societyofrobots.com/step_by_step_robot.shtml)). That'll get you started. After that, get ideas from here, other electronics websites, or books such as "robot builders bonanza" or "intermediate robot building".

Any questions/problems, just ask. We're all friendly!

Thanks,
Barnaby

I agree.  The $50 robot project is a great way to get started.  You will be programming in C, so that's a fine language to learn.  And there are a bunch of people on this site specifically who can help you debug it.
