Title: Ceramic Capacitor question for $50 robot
Post by: owenbear317 on September 18, 2010, 04:39:16 PM
Could I use the ceramic capacitor found here: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062365# (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062365#)

As opposed to the one found here: http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=399-4454-1-ND (http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=399-4454-1-ND)

Thank you. :)

Yes.

They are exactly the same capacitor, just one in "axial" form (the one from digikey) and the other "radial" form. (the one from radiShack, solder leads pointing in the same direction)

However, please keep in mind you are being completely ripped off buying components from RadioShack.  RadioShack is the equivalent of a convenience store: convenient, but inflated prices on everything (for electrical components at least).

On rare occasions if I only need a single component, a local RadioShack can sometimes be cheaper after you factor in shipping and handling, but thats if you can even find a RadioShack that happens to have the component you need.  Even then it still is probably overpriced.
