QTI Line Sensor Help
« on: March 21, 2012, 01:22:21 PM »
I am working on a robot to follow a line for my college design class, I am working with an arduino SV328 chip and we have QTI sensors that we ordered from parallax.com, http://www.parallax.com/tabid/768/ProductID/100/Default.aspx. The problem is, we have never worked with arduino before and though me and my partner know C++ we dont know the specifics of programming an arduino. The robot must follow a line that changes from white to black and the background changes colors as well.

We are just interested in double checking that these sensors will work with an arduino and figuring out how to program it in the arduino language because we found a test program from parallax but the arduino software does not seem to be able to recognize the language. Is there any ideas as to which program we could run to test these sensors and get a basic output from them.

Also, if there is any advice you could give to us as to helping program these or setting up the hardware any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I would expect them to work with an Arduino. The Arduino web site has a lot of information about interfacing with various kinds of hardware, it may have something about QTI sensors too. See

http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/HomePage

In particular the "Learning" and "Reference" links may be helpful.
