Title: Homemade home security surveillance system.
Post by: izaktj on May 23, 2008, 04:30:16 PM
Well, I do not know where to start.
So I am posting this.
The idea is to build a camera system of 4 or more cameras. The video must be able to be seen on my laptop (wireless) in real time so I guess I have to build a program for it too, I'm gonna program it with JAVA.
Further upgrades might be pan/tilt functions.
Keeping the cost to less than $100
Anyway, this is only the "is it feasible?" phase of the project.

PS: Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Sounds feasible. I think the hardest part would be getting software/hardware to operate 4 cameras at the same time. I'm guessing using cheap USB webcams will work?

I guess so, I wouldn't care if it's not super high resolution, this would be first prototype d=
