Need help for a microcontroller ir-following project

Hi guys, I am new to this place and was wondering if I could get some suggestions for a school project. I want to build a robotic car that can follow a moving IR source for my project. I plan on using a PIC18f4550 microcontroller and we were planning on using some kind of IR detector to pinpoint the direction of an IR emitting robot. I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions as to what parts to use for this? Thanks!

There are projects like this described in some of the many SoR tutorials and articles.
Check them out for a good starting point.
Also there have been a number of discussions on these forum pages. Do some searches and you'll find lots of suggestions.
