Using WheelChair motors and wheelchair joystick motor controller

Hi all!

I have 2 merits wheelchair motors and the wheelchair joystick motor controller. I'm a rookie at this and want to find out how I can interface the joystick with the RC. Can I use a servos over the joystick? Any help is appreciated.
