Assistance *please*: Trouble charging my Create

So I've been playing with an iRobot Create and for some reason it won't charge.  The base station -and- the cord light up... but the robot is just dead.   It's brand new... almost no use.  Could it be from my code?

take out a multimeter and measure the voltage across the battery terminals

It just spontaneously started charging again when I tried to take off the command module.  SO strange!

dont you love intermittant faults??
sounds like a loose connection somewhere.
