Building Biped Robot - controller suggestions?

Hi guys!
So I am doing research on Bipedal robots. I am in the engineering phase and having some difficulty. I am working with the Robovie-M v.3 (See robot here:
http://www.robotadvice.com/vstone-robovie-m2-v3_robot.html
). It is quite old and outdated and I am going to have to replace some parts (controller/power supply). But I am keeping the 22 servo motors that came with it. I am not all that knowleagable with the hardware involved so any help on what parts I should look at would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
P.S. If I left out important details just let me know and I will do my best to give whatever further information is needed!

I would recommend using the axon because it has lots output pins for the motors that you will need. also its small and light perfect for walking robots.
