Servo SG5010 Modifying ?! for making 50$ Robot

Hi
According to 50$ robot tutorial HS-311 servos need to modify (as it has done in this address : http://www.flickr.com/photos/randomskk/sets/72157605559564231/show/with/2569969633/)

I want to know is it really needs to remove that part of servo (modifying) ?

I have Standard Servo SG5010,what about this one? do i need to modify ?
