how hot do hobby servos get?

just beforer I srouind my servos in a mass of expanding foam insulation,

 under under long term use with minimal load,(two sharp IR rangefinders), do they get slighlty warm?


  just my luck that they will cook.

How hot a servo gets depends on many factors. I have never noticed any servo I've used getting hot unless it was damaged.
It would be best for you to measure the actual temperature rise of your servos under the conditions you are using them.

um i thin plastic case might help but it depends on load use and voltage. . .  etc

Ill run them at the lowest voltage. should be fine, they have virtualy no load, and are not working against gravity.

I haven't used a fire extingisher in a couple of months so Im due a fire soon.

Hobby servos shouldn't get noticeably hot unless you are stalling them constantly or overpowering etc.
In your situation, i doubt they would even think of getting hot.
