I wanna program a firefighting robot in C++. Can anybody pls tell me which AVR Microcontroller should I use or how to choose it? There are plenty of them. Pls help? Thanx a lot...

You will find the most information on projects using mega8, mega168, or mega328 so I would recommend those.

well yes
look up some diagrams of the chips and you will see how many i\o ports it has, ect.
you can then select the best one for the job!
