Uploading the bootloader in Atmega 168

I already have one Atmega 168 with bootloader. But if I want to buy new 168 then to program it do I need to put bootloader in it?? If yes then what is the procedure? I already checked the bootloader tutorials but it seemed confusing to me  and I found I need AVRISP mkII to put bootloader in most of the microprocessors. But I also found If I have AVRISP mkII then I dont need to use bootloader anymore.

It would help me a lot if someone can explain me how to put bootloader in Atmega 168 step by step and What do I need to have to do this.
