Very useful if you want to calculate the energy within a capacitor . . .

That's why they use them in welding machines :-p
For whom the interrupts toll...

P.S. I've been inactive for almost a year... Don't give promises but I'll try to complete my tutorials. I'll let you know when..

Cheers!

Yeah! Big Firey Sparks!  8)

But could it be possible to reduce the ESR even more, possibly a temperature drop following the principal of superconductors(Of course not dropping them far below freezing)?

Good find, I have to buy some of those for the Childrens Science show we're starting at work.

wire them to 2 big copper electrodes with a sign saying "DON'T TOUCH!"

that ought to weed out the dumb ones

Sweet! I no longer need my multimeter to trace PCB leads. I just buy one of these and use it to light them up... or vaporizes them (either way).

Haha, very nice video. I like the beaver remark. ;D And here I am scared of discharging small capacitors....

If he had... oh I dunno, touched both ends of that with his hands, what would have happened?

Nothing, it's only 2-10 Volts. Same as touching a 9V battery. The capacitors just have the capability to source more current.

Then why the heck are we worried about discharging caps in power supplies?  They're probably only 12V right?  Maybe a bit more?

The pure power their able to dump, they may be low voltage but can hold many Amps.

No, caps in power supplies could be holding hundreds of volts on the high voltage side. That makes them dangerous.

Ah, I knew there was a wrench thrown into my logic.  I forgot that they have high voltage and low voltage sides.   :D
