the best 24V battery ???

i just wanted to ask about the best kind of a 24 volt battery to be used on a 3 wheeled robot used in collision avoidance....weight and rechargable ability must be considered...please answer me...

length 55 cm and width 35 cm, height about 40 cm

There isn't any "Best" battery. It all depends on your requirements.

Rechargeable, Non-extreme temperature:
Low cost, high weight- Lead acid types, SLA & AGM are good since they can be mounted in any orientation.
High current discharge, medium cost- NiCd
High capacity, medium cost- NiMH
Low weight, high capacity- Lithium types. LiIo or LiPo

Also consider the charger since long life, full capacity and safety is dependent on proper charging.

A rather fast and fairly heavy robot with quite large wheels needs what? A lot of power?
