Provision an Alltel device for verizon

We have a ton of these devices and I wanted to know if someone out there had experience with re provisioning Alltel equipment to verizion. The board uses the Wavecom model:Q2438 chip. It should work on both networks. We had to buy all new modems (well verizon bought them) because this chip is provisioned to Altell not Verizon. Is it some kind of proprietary firmware the verizon provides or just some settings?
