Need guidance

Hello Experts, I have decided to do my final year project(Under Grad. program).... I am new to robotics.... so just need some guidance in doing the project.... Tell me what kinds of robots can be built with ease... Are Artificial Intelligence concepts applicable to such projects..... And finally... Can somebody give me a step-by-step tutorial to build a decent robot that is economical.... around 500 USD or 21k INR.... Please help..
