multiple DOF robot genetic algorithm?
« on: June 28, 2007, 02:12:43 PM »
Im doing a literature review as a precursor to a possible future paper.

Does anyone know of any robots that used a genetic algorithm to develop its motions?

Before answering . . . I mean a real robot, not in simulation. The robot must also have multiple dependent DOF, such as a biped, snake, or robot arm.

Im sure someone has tried this before . . .

Not sure if this is what you're looking for:

Try these search terms -
    genetic algorithm robot arm

You'll get hits like this -

I would imagine that a lot of work has been done to combine genetic algorithms with neural networks for this type of problem - it's a natural fit

One of my favorite places to search for papers is:

Got several hits from Howard's search string.

Hmmm those papers have a ton of good references, too.

Will probably take all summer to read and absorb all of this . . . o well!
