Resources for manufacturing?
« on: July 22, 2011, 07:21:14 AM »
Hi all,

this is a slightly more "professional" topic than the average hobby question, but I thought I'd try it out here first.

My professor and I are looking into tactile array sensors, probably using something simple like force sensing resistors.  We can buy these sensors, for sure, but he mentioned that it might be beneficial to learn to make them ourselves, with equipment that we buy.  The logic goes that we'll develop the expertise and capabilities in our lab, even though it might cost more or take a bit longer.

So the question is: does anyone have any information on how to go about manufacturing things like force sensing resistors?  Any clues on where I could even start looking?  (:-P Yes, the library, but what am I LOOKING for? haha)
