chip sides

I got all my parts and pcb for a project ;D ,but I realised i have a really frustrating prob. I don't know which side to put my chips in :'( also i have a double sided pcb that use the same chip on both sides, so do I just use thru hole mounting? thx!

If you designed it, you tell us where the chips go.

If you didn't, we need to know what PCB you're talking about--schematic & board design would be nice.

sorry I didn't explain very clearly :-[ I meant the two sides of the chips are identical in looks and it is easily possible to put the chip in backwards :'( >:(

Get the data sheet for the chip. It will tell you which end is up. Usually there's a notch or circle at one end. If you put that end up with the notch side facing you, pin 1 is the top left pin.

But don't blame me if your chip is different and you just put it in that way and it blows up. You really need to look at the data sheet. we don't even know what chip you're talking about. There are some really smart people here but I don't think any of them are telepathic.
