Voice Controlled Robot using AVR Studio and Axon II help

Hi I am an newb electronics engineering technology student beginning his first capstone project. I really really want to build the Voice Controlled Robot:

I do not have the know-how or engineering prowess to design my own robot just yet. For our project, we just have to build something cool and make a presentation for it. Simple enough.

My question is regarding the programming materials required for this particular project. I currently have Windows 7 and the microcontroller programming software I have received training on is Keil Uvision. Is WinAVR and AVR Studio compatible with PC/Windows?

This may be a stupid/simple question to the super techs on this site. I just want to be sure I can use WinAVR, AVR Studio, Webbotlib, etc on my personal labtop or at least one of the dell PC's at school. Preferably my own (dell XPS). Need this confirmation before I purchase all the parts.

Yes, AS4 is a Windows application (which is why I don't use it). You can find out stuff like this from the product page: http://www.atmel.com/dyn/products/tools_card.asp?tool_id=2725

Note that the default bootloader on the Axon products corresponds with a bootloader EXE that doesn't work on Windows 7 (or Vista, I think). 

If that's what operating system you're using, you'll need a hardware programmer (briefly discussed here and about 70% down the page here)
