bluetooth robo car

hello i am new to this forum
I am interested in making a bluetooth controlled robo car...
I want to use USB bluetooth dongle on car's end which is further connected to serial cable....
so the question is I have given +5v to dongle but my laptop is not detecting it ...
what will be the reason for this ???

All bluetooth USB dongles that I've seen have to be plugged into a computer.  To do serial stuff, you need a bluetooth serial adapter like these.  There are other products, too, but Sparkfun's seem to be the most compact and widely used.  And no, I don't know why they are so much more expensive than regular USB dongles.
