Anyone ever canibalize a roomba?

I have a roomba discovery that my wife absolutely hates, I'm thinking about stealing parts from it. Has anyone done this before, if so what parts are more useful? I'm getting ready to build my first robot (see other post about $50 beginner bot) but am thinking towards the future..

The wheels (with already built in electronics and encoders) are really nice. All the sensors, too.
