Advice on dc Motors
« on: March 06, 2012, 03:51:33 PM »
Hi guys.
I would appreciate if you can give me some advice on what dc motors i can for the sumo bot i am building.
My robot is 15x15 cm, mass is a little less than 1kg and it is powered by four  1.5v  batteries.I bought 2 motors http://radionics.rs-online.com/web/p/dc-geared-motors/4130600/ but they are very slow i.e rpm. Can you please give me some advice on what motors should i get in order to get good torque to push other bots away and also a good speed.

Hi,

[...] mass is a little less than 1kg
How little less?

Can you please give me some advice on what motors should i get in order to get good torque to push other bots away and also a good speed.
What do you define as good torque?
What do you define as good speed?

What 1.2V batteries (cells) are you using? AAA, AA, C, D or what?
Are they rechargeable?

Do you have a motor controller for it?
If so, what is the specs on that?

Søren

A rather fast and fairly heavy robot with quite large wheels needs what? A lot of power?
Please remember...
Engineering is based on numbers - not adjectives
