Labview based mapping

hello everyone, this is my firt post here.. Hope I benifit

I am working on a robot with a maxsonar EZ1. I want to perform mapping of a room, and later let it autonomously move from point A to B in the room.
I am working on Labview for it.
Any suggestions regarding the mapping and path-planning algorithm. I really need a heads up.
