Help with a camera for computer vision
« on: July 15, 2012, 09:22:50 AM »
I was reading through the Computer Vision tutorial on this website and I'm really interested in trying to write some of the algorithms they had pseudo code for.  I'm having a problem starting because I'm not entirely sure how to go from input from a camera to the 2D image matrices I can work with.  Are there programs that would do that for me?  I've seen multiple posts mention, but I'd rather use a free alternative (if possible).

I have a spare HP Deluxe Webcam ( and I was wondering if I would be able to use that for capturing the images/videos?  I'm okay with getting a different camera if mine wouldn't work, but I'd prefer not to spend more than $40 if possible.

Thank you!
(And I apologize if this should have been posted under Software, I thought it sort of fit both categories.)
