How to convert the robot to autonomous robot?

Do you know about companies that develop some devices that help to transmit the robot to an autonomous robot?
This device can maybe have some others sensors and camera with have very good algorithms in computer vision or other things, maybe this device can have more things that I will glad to know.
Also if you know about some sites or books that discus about how to convert a robot to an autonomous robot than I will glad to know about this.
