Inexpensive Scanning Laser Range Finders
« on: September 19, 2012, 01:49:58 PM »
Hi all!

There was some talk of this a few years ago but I wanted to bring it back up now that there is a lot of new hardware coming out.  I have been able to find some high quality scanning lasers with great specs for around $1000 and up but nothing below.  I would be glad to sacrifice the scanning rate or max range for something around $500.  These are all I have been able to find that are close to what I need:

Anyone have any recommendations for other options?  I would be glad to do a little assembly on my own.

Thanks!

Hi,

I would be glad to sacrifice the scanning rate or max range [...]

How large a sacrifice on either? (We're not oracles ;))

A rather fast and fairly heavy robot with quite large wheels needs what? A lot of power?
Please remember...
Engineering is based on numbers - not adjectives
