Servo muffling
« on: February 23, 2013, 10:01:23 AM »
Hey everyone, I am working on a biped using Dynamixel Ax12's, and I am using a 11.1 v LiPo battery.

What I am finding is that these servos are LOUD, ecspecially at top speed.

Has anyone ever tried muffling servos in any way, or can anyone think of any safe ways to do so?

Just curious more than anything, I don't necessarily need to muffle the sound, but wondering if it could be done and how.

Are they loud on their own or only when mounted on the robot?

There was a long thread a couple of years ago on this subject. There were a number of suggestions and experiments discussed. A search of these forums should find it.

They are loud on their own, particularly at high speeds, and very loud when a few are moving at high speed at the same time.

I will see if I can find that older thread, curious to see what people have done.
