Semi-sentient Robot Schematics

I found this schematic for a robot that changes direction when it hits a solid object, and I want to change it so that instead of just going backwards when it runs into a solid object, it will turn 90 degrees and keep going forwards in the new direction.  If anyone can suggest how to do this, I would appreciate it.  the schematics are attached.  I could really use help on this fast because I am trying to build this for a robotics class I am taking, and I need to have the schematics.

Look like there is part of the schematic missing (what do the two signals on the right do to?).

Redraw that schematic show the D flip-flops that are inside the IC (look up the data sheet for the IC). Then work out the logic state tables of what this circuit does.
Then write down what you really want it to do and work out the new state table. Using the IC data sheet work out a new circuit that does the new state table.
