SGI console

I know this isn't really directly rated to robotics, but I was hoping the knowledge base would overlap a bit.  I have a SGI Onyx 2 in my lab and there's a front console on it that tracks the 8 parallel processors and is supposed to do large system commands like shut down, reset, rack all bays (I don't really know what that means) but for some reason, it doesn't carry out commands anymore.  It still shows the processor usage as before, but when I do "reset" or "shut down" nothing happens.  Can anyone help?
