Pan/Tilt with a heat sensor

I am trying to make a heat sensor that will pan and tilt using servos to track a heat source. I notices acroname has this :

I think this just moves a servo to pan the area and take readings and doesn't follow the heat source. Has anyone seen a ready made system that will work like this? Or even a distance sensor that tracks to the closest object that I could modify or just use.

The project is to control a set of servos inside the head of an R2D2. The servos are attached to the holoprojectors and allows them to track someone who is close to the droid. It will add another realm of reality to the droid I think.

Also if anyone is familiar with this sensor and could give me some info on the actual sensor that reads 8 different points at once that would be great. I could rig something up to track using that heat sensor on the board but I have never seen anything like that before.

As for that sensor . . . it gives 8 readings like pixels in a camera . . . Then you can select the highest value pixel (or do some algebra to find a gradient) to locate the heat source with respect to your sensor. This means you won't even need to do a servo scan (although Im not sure what the focal length of the lens is so maybe you do).
