Quick question on the "BASIC ELECTRONICS COMPONENTS" tutorial
« on: December 13, 2007, 11:06:27 AM »
Quote from: capacitor section of tutorial
Get a capacitor that is rated at least twice the voltage you expect to go through it. Have it rated at 1mF-10mF for every amp required. For example, if your 20V motors will use 3 amps, use a 3mF-30mF 50V rated capacitor.

is it saying a millifarad? or is it supposed uF micro farad?

Those numbers are more rule of thumb. Basically you want maximum capacitance, but you don't want giant capacitors on your robot either. This is just a balance area that I like.

ah ok. If im not mistaken, 1mF = 1000uF?

I recently fixed a big 7.1 channel receiver for someone that had two 15,000uF caps in it O_O and a huge like 25lb(~11.34kg) transformer lol, it was pretty sweet.

car audio setups have huge caps for the subs

like 2" diamiter and 5" long
Problems making the \$50 robot circuit board?
