trashed a servo
« on: February 23, 2008, 11:50:13 AM »
Well, on my quest for perfect servo centering, I managed to damage a good deal of my HS-311.  I melted a gear or two and damaged the housing as well.  The servo control board is still in good shape as well as the motor.  I assume that I should be able to use the board with another motor if I wanted, correct?  What would be the drawbacks of doing this and what exactly is the board that controls the servo?  Is it a budget H-bridge?

you can't just use any motor with the board because you could fry the board.
Robots are awesome!

I not sure about that but if a motor requires more current it won't burn the board...
But it's unlikely to work...

Sure the board is still good to use!!!
For whom the interrupts toll...

P.S. I've been inactive for almost a year... Don't give promises but I'll try to complete my tutorials. I'll let you know when..

Cheers!

I'd just keep the servo for spare swap-out parts.

Based on my personal experience, you will break more servos in the future :P

Yeah, I guess I probably will at that...  Picked up a couple of HS-425BB's yesterday for $17 each and they were a breeze to modify.  I was looking for 422's but the RC store didn't have any.
