Voice recognition software

I am looking for a program that I can command my computer/robot to do a certain command, for example "Open Door", and the program will reconize my command and open the door. Also, I want to be able to program in questions I ask, and assign certain answers for that question. I have been searching and don't know if I am looking for the software under the wrong name or what. Any help would be great. thanks.

what robot platform will you be using , PC or microcontroller?

and then you connect that to a microcontroller which in turn controls an MP3 player or something to play a voice answer

I suppose my question is what OS are using? I am of course making the presumption that you are using an SBC. If you are using Linux, then there are many programs available that my fit the bill. However, most of them require compiling from the command line, though it is usually a relatively straight forward process. I would suggest checking out this site:

I used vista , but I plan to make the switch to linux in the summer
