$50 battery and circuit problem

I have just finished the circuit board, and i'm having some problems. This is my first robot so my soldering isn't that good yet. I'm trying to use the AA battery pack with the 9 volt battery, and it's very confusing. After looking over everything about 5 more times, I've tried fixing things, but still can't get it working.

yes it does but very low.

if it gets very hot it's becouse you inverted lateral pins. by the way I have not seen the pictures yet. try to control regulator datasheet: VIN goes to the (+) of the battery, VOUT goes to the circuit. central pin goes to (-) of the battery.

Your regulator shouldn't get that hot. Try unplugging the micro-controller and then re-applying the power. Check out voltages on the IC socket with a meter  - you may have a short
