Seniors seeking information on robotics

Hello,

I’m posting for a small group of Mechanical engineering seniors that attend the University of Cincinnati. Our final project we have decided to build and enter a “Battle Bot” into the BotsIQ competition that should be held in spring of 2009. Well as it turns out that most of the site we visit seems to be disabled, or pretty inactive. As part of our studies we are required to gather information for product development for robot to aid in our design. This involves a survey so we can use weighted dissension making when going about our final choices for the function of the robot and its components. Needless to say none of the team has any real background in robotics, and we would be grateful for any help we could get.

Of the few forums we have found that are still functioning most are very inactive. On the contrary this forum is very active and we figured it might be a great place to post the questioner. However we are aware that a “Battle Bot” is typically a radio controlled weapon and is not as sophisticated as some of the robotics discussed on this forum. We hope someone might be able to point us in the direction of a active forum which is more focused on robot combat, or if it would be acceptable to post the questionnaire here?
