USBtiny compatibility with Ponyprog

Adafruit's USBtinyISP does not work with Ponyprog2000. I am asking around to see if there is a way I can program the Atmega8 using the USBtiny with another pony like application or... if there is another solution that doesn't involve me spending more money. I'm trying to do the $50 dollar robot, and purchased this kind of programmer because I thought it would work. I'm sad that it doesn't.    Thanks.
