Which microntroller?
« on: September 16, 2008, 01:55:12 PM »
Hi there!

I'm a beginner (I just finished with my Boe-Bot). I now want to make my own robot. It will be about the size of an A4 paper. Basic Stamp 2 isn't good enough, so I'm looking for a new microcontroller.
I need 5 servo ports and about 8 sensor ports, motor drivers and an USB port!!! It also has to be easy to program and relatively cheap. Which microcontroller do you think would work?

Thanks for help!

Depends on the person :P

Not one of the cheapest, but how about my Axon?

It doesn't come with motor drivers though. What current and voltage do your motors run at? You'd be better off buying an external motor driver and simply attach it to your microcontroller.

If you find a microcontroller you like but no USB, you can buy a serial to USB adapter for ~$15.
