Sabertooth wiring to the Axon?
« on: September 26, 2008, 04:47:27 PM »
First up, this is a great forum, so great that I bought an Axon and I am just starting on it today.

Second, my quick, noob, question - how do I wire up a sabertooth 2x10 to the Axon:

I have the sabertooth 2x10 that I will be using to drive two Gear Head Motors (12vdc 50:1 120rpm) through the simple serial mode from the Axon.  I have read everything on this forum, and through all the data sheets and I think I could probably T&E (Trial and Error) my way through it; but before I brick everything, I thought I could brain storm here.

I have two 7.2 batteries to drive the little guy with, and if I had to guess, I would just keep the Axon on one battery and the Sabertooth on the other battery - then connect the Tx of uart0 and the ground of uart0 to the Sabertooths S1 and 0V.  And then the Sabertooth would have its own battery on B+ and B-, and motors on 1 (a and b), and 2 (a and b).  And the Axon would have its own battery.

Is this kinda right?  Will I brick it?  Is there a way I could have these sharing one battery (2 in parallel) for easy (autonomous) charging?

Thanks for any help ... I will document my adventures thoroughly for future noobs.
