IR detector type

which IR DETECTOR should be used for the detection of object????I need to create a curtain of IR rays as per the beam angle...can nybody suggest me the type considering the beam angle......

hey thanks for the link.But i need an obstacle detection IR sensor,i m working on a project of elevator which requires an IR detector for detection of any obstacle in the path of the elevator door while closing the door. I m using PIC16C782 at both the ends...

That is an obstacle detection sensor. From the output of the sharp IR distance sensor you can tell if there is an obstacle in front of you. like this
greater number = closer object
lesser number = object farther away
at least I think that's how it goes.
