$50 robot schematics questions

Alright, everything is almost done with the wiring except the last part where you add the ceramic capacitor. Now it says to attach the AREF to the AVCC directly. On the schematic it has the location of these, but in the picture it is in a different slot by one space. Do you know if I should trust the schematic or the picture location? If you have made the $50 dollar robot, what did you do at that point and did it work?
