It's good research for mobility but not very practical in the real world.
But wouldnt parallel parking be easier with this method?
They used this mobility type on the two Mars Rovers currently wandering around, and I think they will keep using it on future rovers.

just dont let your fear keep you from being a better robotics engineer. i can remember a half dozen times where i was afraid of learning something new (and avoided it), and after learning, i wished i learned it sooner (CNC, microcontrollers, CAD, etc.).
