MKII Programmer Question?
« on: January 25, 2009, 07:56:47 PM »
After reading this tutorial: http://www.societyofrobots.com/member_tutorials/node/290 I now have a question about the mkII programmer. In the tutorial it says that you can use the MKII for your 50$ robot only if you get an adapter. If i am going to be using the atmega 328p will i need this adapter? The problem is that the program header is still the same and I don't think the pins fit the MKII programmer without the adapter. Does anyone know if I really need this?!

In the original $50 robot schematic, it calls for you to solder on a 2x5 header. The MKII can only handle a 2x3 header. The serial 'bit-bang' programmer fits the 2x5 header. You can either chose to solder on the 2x3 header onto your board instead of the 2x5 header, or you can buy or make an adapter

Ok, so I will just solder a 2x3 pin header instead. Thanks! :)
