TED Talk: Siftables, computerized interactive blocks

MIT grad student David Merrill demos Siftables -- cookie-sized, computerized tiles you can stack and shuffle in your hands. These future-toys can do math, play music, and talk to their friends, too. Is this the next thing in hands-on learning?

Cool, great potential too, though I doubt they will ever be able to replace modern computers, they might be a cool toy to mess around with.

I think it will not replace computers but if you insert the idea into all your "gadgets" think how cool that would be. Transfer files from one Ipod to the next by putting them next to each other. I think it is the next iteration of the interfaces we use every day. Just like the Ipod and Wii motes changed everything so could this. We already have the idea that you can shake and tilt things but now we are looking at the next step being the tilt of my Iphone interacts with my other devices.
