OpenCV on Axon?
« on: February 21, 2009, 01:39:30 AM »
I'm guessing OpenCV is too processor-dependent to run on a microprocessor. Am I correct? Is there a way to reprogram the BlackFin to use some OpenCV facial recognition code? It's got a 500 mhz processor. It seems like it would be capable of running it, at least theoretically.

Well, OpenCV is too processor intensive for something like a 16MHz microcontroller . . . so no Axon can't handle it.

Yeap, but you'd have to write it. The CMUcam3 has face detection (not recognition), so you should have a look at that. It's supposedly open source.
