Simple eight legged robot? what is it?

Hi there people

Ive seen this robot in the real robots magazine and in the readers digest.  Its eight legged (give or take) has very little intelligence which makes it really unpredictable in its behaiviour. Apparentely it can be made quite easily at home and with cheap materials such as calculator parts.  Sorry to be so vague but im very interested in building one of these.
